I was born and raised in Estill, S.C.  I attended Patrick Henry Academy and then Winthrop University, where I earned my BS in Special Education. A year later I earned my Masters from USC Columbia and moved home to teach at Fairfax Elementary. Two years later, I moved back to Columbia and taught 3 years at Sandhills Middle School and coached 7th and 8th grade girls basketball. I then returned as a student to USC and earned my PhD in Special Education. I was a professor at Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC for one year before moving back home to Estill with my husband Michael and three children: Zack (age 13), Mikell Tucker (age 9), and Maura (age 6).  I am in my 10th year as a Special Education Teacher here at Hampton Elementary. I currently teach 5th Grade Resource ELA and Math, and 4th-6th Self-contained ELA.  When I am not at school, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family and friends, coaching, and attending my children's ball games within the community.
